O Christian, rescue the perishing! Of all ages past and present, the present age appears to be most in need of rescuing.
In the heart of many of you there is the desire to rescue our misguided, misdirected, grossly deceived and Spiritually enslaved contemporaries. You have the desire but you don't quite know how.
Fanny Crosby, physically blind but one of the most "visioned" of her age, reaches out and touches my heart and teaches my mind as she so eloquently whispers in the third verse of her wonderful song titled, "Rescue the Perishing":
Down in the human heart, Crush'd by the tempter,
Feelings lie buried that grace can restore;
Touch'd by a loving heart, Waken'd by kindness,
Chords that are broken will vibrate once more.
This tells the "how". Grace, love and kindness are "how".
Yes, your child may have disappointed you completely, shamed your family and cost you untold anguish and resources. Your anger may be justified but it will not "rescue the perishing". Often broken hearts are only further damaged by anger unfurled. Thus, James says quite wisely, "For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God" (James 1:20).
If we are going to successfully rescue the BILLIONS in our present age we must use Sister Fanny's formula (grace, love and kindness).
