a sermon

What a way to begin a sermon! Pleasant and kind words are rather to be chosen than horrific statements. Sermons should speak of love, peace, joy, faith, happiness, shouting, endurance, mercy, grace, resilience, victory and eternal bliss in Heaven. But this sermon begins with the stark warning of "laugh and die".
Some of you will laugh and not heed the warnings of this sermon. As a result, you and/or someone you love will die.
These are wonderful times! These are horrific times!
These are wonderful times because of the great scientific accomplishments of man.
These are horrific times because of the great scientific accomplishments of man.
Within one generation of man's gaining the ability to fly using technology, he was using that technology to bomb and kill other men, women and children across large regions of the world. A study of World War I reveals the horrific truth of the number of human beings killed (multiple millions).
Within two generations of man's gaining the ability to fly using technology, he was using that technology to kill other men, women and childen across most of the known world. A study of World War II reveals that the number of human beings killed during that war is not known because so many were killed that man just stopped counting.
These are wonderful times! These are horrific times!
As far as I know, man has never made a weapon that he has not used to kill other men.
God made man wonderful. Satan twisted the heart of man and made it horrific.
Narcissistic and atheistic readers are likely to laugh at this information. Failing to heed its warnings, they are likely to both participate in the horrors it reveals and the tragedys those horrors produce.
Many Scientific and empirical readers are likely to laugh at this information. Failing to heed its warnings, they are likely to both participate in the horrors it reveals and the tragedies those horrors produce.
Many "main stream" Christians are likely to laugh at this information (and at its author). Failing to heed its warnings, they are likely to both participate in the horrors it reveals and the tragedies those horrors produce.
Thus far in this sermon, one might imagine that technology is the problem. Such conclusion would be a drastic mistake.
The problem is the heart of man. When the heart is wrong the acts of the man will be horrific.
Not only has modern technology become a means of killing during times of war, it has also become a means of killing during times of "peace".
For all the wonderful uses of technology (air travel, communication, diagnosis and treatment of disease, education and training, time and labor saving, comfort, enjoyment, physical enhancement, etc., man appears to have adopted the same technology to equally horrific uses (killing babies in the womb, euthanizing people whose "life quality" no longer "measures up". etc.).
So, one would be wise to examine the uses of modern technology and carefully guard against its abuses.
Technology is most horrible when it is used to kill or incapacitate human beings. It is this use of technology that bears immediate attention and action.
We know that technology does not act alone. It is an agent of a human operator. The technology is a slave of the operator. Even automatons are programmed by humans. (So the evil done by technology is set in motion by human operators.)
During World War I human beings killed multiple millions of other human beings (using technology).
During World War II human beings killed so many other human beings (using technology) that the number killed is not known because so many were killed that man just stopped counting.
So, we may extrapolate that human beings will kill human beings using anything they can get their hands on.
Let's look at one discipline that will illustrate the above propositions. The discipline chosen for this illustration is the medical profession.
Technology has done wonders for the medical profession. Never before could mere man "look into" the human body or evaluate the processes, substances and functioning state of the human body as is possible today. One would find it almost impossible to enter a doctor's office or hospital today and not find some modern technical instrument. The modern medical profession relies on technology and the information and assistance it provides.
Yet, with all the wonderful technology in use in medicine today, horrific events often occur in doctors' offices and hospitals. Technology may be part of the horrors but man (and woman) is fully responsible for the horrors. Thus, we return to the core of the problem: The heart of man.
Evil men and women in the medical profession use technology to kill people.
Before moving further in this discussion, I must set a protective buffer around those in the medical profession whose hearts are not evil. Most of you probably have had wonderful experiences with medical professionals. So have I. As a matter of fact, just this year I sought treatment for a leg injury. I had ridden my bicycle as if I was still 14 years old and somehow injured my hamstring. I recall with great joy the nurse practitioner in a local hospital. She was the epitome of Tender Loving Care. She captured my heart. She was as gentle and caring with me as any mother could ever be. I fell in love with her (watch it preacher!). I think it was the kind of love mentioned in Titus 1:8 (though I'm very wary of Jeremiah 17:9). She had me rest my injured leg on her lap. She carefully examined each and every segment of my leg, pressing at certain points for detection of pain. She showed every evidence of genuine concern for reaching a correct diagnosis. She gently and patiently invested both time and care in finding the correct solutions to my problem. She left the room and discussed my condition with others. She returned with both diagnosis and prescription. (I eventually went through physical therapy and by the grace of God I am healed).
So, some of the greatest hearts on Planet Earth are medical professionals.
Yet, some of the most horrific hearts on Planet Earth are also medical "professionals".
It is those medical "professionals" who have horrific hearts that we must carefully identify and avoid. While the great hearts use technology to heal, the horrific hearts use technology for both purposes (healing and killing). This is a 21st Century issue that one should be careful to examine. (Laugh and die.)
If you laugh at this information you may very well lose your life (or that of a loved one) due to your lack of vigilance. (Laying out all of the evidence would take longer than most of you are willing to take time reading [so I will merely highlight the various elements of the proposition]).
The 20th Century spawned a generation of people, many of whom (because of unGodly laws and practices) do not know God. They believe man is the highest of the intellectual order and thus has no higher authority to whom he must answer. So, in their minds, they are "god". They see human life enter Planet Earth (at birth) and witness it depart Planet Earth (at death). To many of them, it is no more than a mechanical process. Embracing this perspective, they use technology accordingly.
Medical technology is wonderful! Medical technology can be horrific! When used to help heal a human being, medical technology is wonderful! When used to kill a human being, medical technology is horrific. I contend that medical technology is being used for both purposes today.
The promotion of healing use is self-explanatory.
The use of medical technology to kill human beings may be more subtle and very difficulty to detect. (Many in the medical profession know that the killing is taking place but few seem to have the heart to do anything about it.)
Medical technology is horrific when it is used to kill a baby in the womb (those who have no heart identify the baby as a "fetus" [thus taking away its human life qualities and making it a "suitable" candidate for death]).
Medical technology is horrific when it is used to remove from a human being who could live an organ critical to living and then sell (or give) that organ to another human being.
Medical technology is horrific when it is used to "let die" a human being who could live if properly treated.
Medical technology is horrific when it is used to promote "natural death". In other words, when a medical "professional" knows a patient's blood is in the critical zone and lets that person die rather than provides the necessary units of blood, that medical "professional" has used medical technology as an "instrument of 'natural death'". (It is not really natural death, rather, it is intentional murder by negligence.) This type of murder may be difficult to prove - - the very reason why it is used in the first place.
Medical technology is horrific when technology connected to the human body (or wirelessly acting upon the human body) leads to the death of the patient.
Wireless technology is horrific when technology designed to gather information for diagnosis and treatment, is used instead to transmit harmful and/or deadly impulses.
Laugh and die.
In conclusion, modern technology is wonderful! Modern technology is horrific!
A new discipline is desparately needed. The need exists for the discipline of Investigation of Death by Technology (IDT). The Death by Technology Investigator (DTI) will find a lucrative market waiting to be professionally accessed. Traditional Coroners and autopsies are not up to speed in this area. They are not prepared to handle Death by Technology. The research has not been completed, the professional tools of the trade have not been developed, the investigators have not been trained. This is a totally new arena that cries out for attention.
The great demand for human body organs will take the lives of many human beings who could otherwise live. Investigations of Death by Technology are critical in those situations.
The "Quality of Life" (QL) philosophy so prevalent in the world today (especially in the West) cries out for Investigations of Death by Technology.
The economic issues of health care cost cry out for Investigations of Death by Technology.
Oh, many of you are laughing - - you are sure I am off my rocker. Don't be surprised if one day you find yourself in a situation where the title of this message suddenly surfaces in your mind and you realize that Death by Technology is a real issue.
On Planet Earth, the unGodly have cheapened the value of human life (to them, it has no Eternal dimension). As long as the prevailing attitudes exist, living on Planet Earth will be additionally challenging.
Earlier this year a man was hospitalized and his nephew notified of his condition. A few days later the nephew traveled to the hospital in which the man was hospitalized (about six hours trip) to visit the man. The man had been living with another "relative" and reportedly had signed a document giving that relative authority over his medical matters. The nephew requested that the man be kept alive by treatment. The person having authority over the man's medical affairs wanted it otherwise. The hospital appeared to be "shepherding" the person in charge of the man's medical affairs. The hospital appeared to want the man dead. The "relative" in charge of the man's medical affairs appeared to want the man dead. The nephew requested that the man be kept alive. The hospital opposed the request of the nephew and encouraged the man's death. The hospital refused to release the man's body to an undertaker sent by the man's brother. The hospital then released the man's body to another undertaker who reportedly quickly cremated the body. The man's brother was thus cheated out of the opportunty to view the body of his dead brother. The man's family was cheated out of the opportunity to express their grief at the man's funeral (because there was no funeral).
Before declaring the man dead, the hospital appeared unable to explain (to the nephew) a long vertical scar (apparently a surgical cut) over the man's left chest. The hospital also appeared unable to explain another surgical procedure that another doctor had reported as having been performed.
The foregoing account of the man's death in the hospital is true. (I know it is true because the man was my mother's brother.)
Oh for more people in the medical profession with "hearts of God" (of much greater value than "hearts of gold")!
The times are truly wonderful! The times are truly horrific.
Laugh and die.
Again THE word of the Lord came unto me, saying,
2 Son of man, cause Jerusalem to know her abominations,
3 And say, Thus saith the Lord God unto Jerusalem; Thy birth and thy nativity is of the land of Canaan; thy father was an Amorite, and thy mother an Hittite.
4 And as for thy nativity, in the day thou was born thy navel was not cut, neither wast thou washed in water to supple thee; thou wast not salted at all, nor swaddled at all.
5 None eye pitied thee, to do any of these unto thee, to have compassion upon thee; but thou was cast out in the open field, to the loathing of thy person, in the day that thou wast born.
6 And when I passed by thee, and saw thee polluted in thine own blood, I said unto thee when thou was in thy blood, Live; yea, I said unto thee when thou was in thy blood, Live.
7 I have caused thee to multiply as the bud of the field, and thou hast increased and waxen great, and thou art come to excellent ornaments: thy breasts are fashioned, and thine hair is grown, whereas thou was naked and bare.
